BYD Malaysia to Roll Out Megawatt Flash Charging Network — 1.5 MW, 10-97% in 9 Minutes
English
- BYD Malaysia confirmed plans to introduce its Megawatt Flash Charging technology to the Malaysian market, currently in the research and planning stage with a phased rollout approach
- Maximum charging power of 1,500 kW (1.5 MW) built on a 1,000V architecture delivering up to 1,000A current, using battery energy storage systems (BESS) at each charging site
- Blazing fast charging speeds: 10-70% in approximately 5 minutes (adding ~400 km of range), and 10-97% in approximately 9 minutes
- Initial deployment at selected BYD and Denza showrooms, with plans for future public network expansion across Malaysia
- Network will be open to non-BYD vehicles, making it a significant addition to Malaysia's public EV charging infrastructure
- Existing BYD models cannot be software-upgraded to support Flash Charging — specific hardware is required, meaning only future BYD models will be compatible
- Specific locations, pricing, and launch timeline have not yet been revealed by BYD Malaysia
