NUR@PETRA 2026 Programme Launches With RM32 Million in Energy Efficiency Rebates

- The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) has launched the NUR@PETRA 2026 Domestic Programme starting July 2026, implemented by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA)
- The government has allocated 160,000 rebate units worth a total of RM32 million for the programme this year
- Eligible domestic users can enjoy a RM200 rebate for purchasing energy-efficient air conditioners or refrigerators carrying a four- or five-star energy efficiency label from the Energy Commission
- The programme is expected to reduce electricity consumption by 552.25 gigawatt-hours (GWh), equivalent to cost savings of RM250.72 million over a five-year period
- NUR@PETRA is projected to achieve a reduction of 408,655 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (CO2eq), supporting Malaysia's climate commitments
- The initiative addresses challenges from rising energy costs and global energy market uncertainties caused by geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East
- Rebate applications for the domestic category opened on July 1, 2026 through the SEDA portal
- The programme supports Malaysia's energy transition agenda by incentivising households to switch to energy-efficient appliances, reducing peak electricity demand
